Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Web Developer to join our website development team, deepening our skill set and capacity.
Ray is an independent, full-service agency, supporting clients across Canada and beyond. We pride ourselves on delivering bespoke creative solutions in a range of categories, and website/digital development has always been part of our toolkit.
As a full stack developer you will use your experience to execute the requirements of a diverse set of projects, and find opportunities to contribute ideas whenever possible.
Weâre not looking for a one-trick pony that works in the background. Weâre looking for someone that is interested in collaborating with the entire agency â from strategy to design â to push the boundaries of what is expected and challenge us to bring our A-game.
Our clients run mainly on WordPress, so youâll need to know your way around there without relying entirely on Stack Overflow. In addition to new projects, youâll be expected to update and refresh projects already in play as client needs changes.
If you check (most of) the boxes listed below, are down to earth, armed with a great sense of humour, and youâre allergic to bullshit, then letâs talk.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Write clean, functional code on the backend (server side) and frontend (client side).
Turn wireframes/designs into clean, responsive, accessible pages (and help refine them with the Digital Lead).
Support the team with setup and maintenance of our tech stack and pipeline.
Plan and execute a variety of web support work for existing clients (features, fixes, improvements).
Conceptualize and execute UX animations and effects.
Lead content population of new site builds.
Skills and Qualifications:
Training in Computer Science or a related field.
3+ years experience writing HTML, CSS and Javascript.
Experience developing using WordPress is an asset (most notably the Roots.io Tech stack).
Knowledge of SEO best practices and web performance optimization techniques.
Skills in UI/UX design principles; wireframing and user flow planning experience is advantageous.
Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a strong follow-through.
Curious, coachable, and genuinely into web development.
Able to diagnose issues across frontend/backend, isolate root causes quickly, and ship fixes.
Benefits and Perks:
Hybrid working
4.5 day work week
As a women-owned, WBE certified company, we embrace diversity. Don't meet every single requirement? Studies show that women and other marginalized groups are less likely to apply unless they meet every qualification in the job description. If you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every point in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.
We thank all applicants for their interest, however; only those candidates being considered for an interview will be contacted. Applicants considered for the position will be subject to a background check. This opportunity is only available for candidates legally entitled to work in Canada.
