Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain software applications supporting flight test activities for OMS-enabled platforms
Develop avionics and mission system software on defense platforms or programs using C++
Collaborate with team members and leaders to select appropriate design solutions or ensure the compatibility of system components (e.g. various payloads, datalinks, and weapons)
Implement new features and optimize existing codebases
Author robust, maintainable code that meets requirements
Perform code reviews, optimize performance and efficiency, and ensure quality
Write unit and integration tests to validate functionality and interoperability â develop automated test tools to improve efficiency and accuracy of testing processes
Author and oversee testing plans, security evaluations, and other processes
Document software designs, APIs, and usage guides
Work with cross-functional engineering teams on software integration to ensure effort is successful in the field for the warfighter thinking through its full life cycle
Support real-time flight test operations, including on-site testing when required
Analyze flight test data and provide technical recommendations to resolve identified issues
Support process improvement initiatives and adoption of best practices
Implement cybersecurity measures to protect mission-critical systems and sensitive data
Qualifications
Bachelorâs Degree and minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience on defense or aerospace programs or Masterâs Degree and 5 years of software engineering experience on defense or aerospace programs
Ability to manage oneâs own time and the ability to work alone or together in a team environment
Self-starter and able to break down large chunks of scope into workable tasks
Proficiency with languages like C/C++, Java, Python
Experience with real-time embedded systems
Knowledge of DO-178 software standards a plus
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Passion for writing high-quality, well-tested code â optimize systems for performance, reliability and maintainability
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the TS / SCI level â required for the position
Willingness to travel to customer sites as required â 25% travel expected
