About The Role Weâre seeking a Data DevOps expert for a high-impact freelance mission with our client in Brussels. Youâll be at the heart of mission-critical technology cycles, driving the evolution, industrialization, and security of data platforms that power essential services. Youâll solve complex challenges in data migration, backup automation, and CI/CD, ensuring that our clientâs systems are robust, secure, and future-ready. Key Responsibilities
Engage in the full technology lifecycle: from solution design to implementation, backup management, and migrations.
Familiarize yourself with diverse environments and existing systems to ensure seamless integration and evolution.
Maintain and enhance relational (PostgreSQL) and non-relational (Elasticsearch) databases, including setting up and automating backup procedures.
Support development teams maintaining legacy software, focusing on data structure migrations and replacing stored procedures with backend functionalities.
Maintain and integrate a centralized logging platform based on Kafka for application projects.
Drive the evolution of a widely deployed investigation management solution, focusing on performance and security improvements.
Lead and participate in CI/CD processes, deploying on both traditional servers and container orchestrators (Kubernetes, OpenShift).
Implement and maintain environments for specialized databases, including Graph DB (Neo4j) and Vector DB (Milvus), supporting Data department projects.
Automate processes for migration and backup management, ensuring reliability and repeatability.
Work in agile mode, delivering on planned tasks and adapting quickly to evolving technical directions.
Technical Skills
Relational Databases: PostgreSQL (must have), MS SQL (nice to have)
Non-Relational Databases: Elasticsearch (must have)
Distributed Messaging: Kafka (must have), RabbitMQ (nice to have)
Version Control: GIT (must have)
DevOps: GitLab, CI/CD, GitOps, Kubernetes, MinIO, Python scripting (should have)
Graph Databases: Neo4j (nice to have)
Vector Databases: Milvus (nice to have)
Language Proficiency
Fluent English (active knowledge required)
Fluency in one of the two national languages (French or Dutch) with at least passive knowledge of the other is a strong advantage
Other Requirements
Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science (minimum) with several years of relevant experience
Proven experience in database migration and close collaboration with development teams (code-first approach)
Ability to model data structures and standardize systems across projects
Familiarity with Git versioning and branch management strategies
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, with adaptability to changing technologies and project directions
Strong problem-solving mindset, perseverance, and solution orientation
Excellent communication skills and ease of integration into diverse teams
Technical curiosity and creativity to propose original solutions
Autonomy and team spirit, with the ability to work independently once aligned with the team
