We’re seeking a Dev-Ops Engineer (Freelance) for a 12-month project in Brussels with our client. This is your opportunity to join a high-impact DevOps team, shaping the digital backbone of public services and driving the next wave of infrastructure automation and cloud maturity.

As a Dev-Ops Engineer, you’ll be instrumental in building and evolving a secure, scalable, and highly automated AWS-based infrastructure. Your work will empower developers, data scientists, and business teams to deliver faster, safer, and smarter solutions — with real-world impact.

What You’ll Be Doing

Design, build, and evolve the "Infrastructure Fabric" — a standardized, highly automated stack covering compute, network, storage, and data resources on AWS.

Support and optimize CI/CD pipelines for software engineering and data science teams.

Build infrastructure components as code, ensuring best practices and security requirements are met.

Enable and maintain intelligent monitoring and full-stack vulnerability analysis.

Support BI teams with technology stack setup (e.g., Snowflake, Spark).

Participate in operational exercises: disaster recovery, penetration testing, and threat response.

Contribute to the long-term vision: delivering building blocks that empower teams to define their own stacks, pipelines, and QA processes.

Collaborate closely with DevOps leads, product managers, and cross-functional teams.

Take ownership of operational excellence and continuous improvement in a mature cloud environment.

What We’re Looking For

Demonstrable experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) — minimum 4 years.

Proven experience with Kubernetes on AWS — minimum 4 years.

Hands-on expertise with ArgoCD (2 years), Pulumi and Golang (1 year), Python (4 years), RabbitMQ (3 years), and Terraform (4 years).

Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.

Strong system administration skills and ability to organize 1st line support for incidents.

Experience in enterprise or web-based environments with in-house software development.

Higher education (Bachelor or Master) in a technical/engineering field, or equivalent experience.

Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

Ownership mentality, stress resistance, and a drive for operational excellence.

Experience with JAVA environments and JavaScript is a plus.

Experience in the public sector is a plus.

Proven ability to bring people together and foster a collaborative environment.

In-depth knowledge of application/systems or similar applications is a plus.

Experience with continuous integration and delivery is a plus.

Language Proficiency

Dutch at European CEFR level C2 (mandatory)
