About The Role Our client is seeking a driven Developer with expertise in ArcGIS Pro and Python to elevate the automation of geospatial data processing. This freelance mission is your opportunity to directly impact the future of cartographic generalization, reducing manual corrections and accelerating production workflows. Automated generalization is at the heart of efficient geospatial data production, but current processes still require manual intervention. Your mission: enhance and optimize Python scripts so that data flows seamlessly from source to production, minimizing human correction and maximizing accuracy. The stakes are high — your work will enable smarter, faster, and more reliable geospatial solutions for critical business and public sector needs.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and improve Python scripts to meet demanding production requirements for geospatial data processing.

Test and validate scripts using robust datasets to ensure reliability and performance.

Document your code and processes clearly for team-wide knowledge sharing and future-proofing.

Actively participate in team meetings, sharing progress, surfacing challenges, and proposing solutions to support collective success.

Technical Skills \& Experience

Proven experience (within the last 1–3 years) as a Geomatics Engineer or similar role.

Strong background in the analysis and processing of geographical data.

Confirmed expertise in Python, with a focus on scripting for ArcGIS Pro (ArcPy).

Solid understanding of cartographic generalization principles (nice to have).

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Language Proficiency

Active knowledge of Dutch or French (required).

Active knowledge of English (required).

Other Requirements

Recent (last 5 years) relevant work experience in automated analysis and processing of geographical data, preferably with ArcGIS Pro and Python. Please provide references.

Availability for a two-month trial period, with the mission expected to last 12–14 months (until end of 2026).

Hybrid work model: After an initial integration period, remote work is possible up to 3/5 of the working week.

Location: Brussels, Belgium (hybrid).
