About the role

We’re looking for a Manager, Software Development to help shape the future of Rewind’s products by leading a team of developers who care deeply about their craft. In this role, you’ll be responsible for guiding your team’s growth, ensuring reliable delivery, and fostering a culture where curiosity and accountability thrive.

This is a role for someone who loves balancing technical depth with people leadership - helping the team build secure, high-performing systems while creating an environment where everyone can do their best work.

What you’ll do

Lead and grow a high-performing team

Mentor, coach, and support developers in their professional growth, holding the team accountable for technical outcomes.

Set clear, achievable goals for your team and provide regular feedback and performance conversations.

Create space for open, two-way dialogue about personal, team, and company performance.

Lead hiring efforts, from interviews to technical onboarding, to ensure new teammates feel set up for success.

Encourage a culture of ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Deliver impactful software

Ensure the team delivers on sprint commitments with clarity and focus.

Oversee design, implementation, testing, documentation, and maintenance of backend systems that power high-traffic services.

Partner with team leads and Product Managers to plan for future development work.

Safeguard the quality of production updates while driving continuous improvements to platform performance.

Champion our brand and corporate values as first class deliverables.

Collaborate across teams

Work closely with Product security and CloudOps to deliver projects that are timely, secure, and high quality.

Identify and remove bottlenecks in the development process.

Champion improvements in how we build and deploy software, making sure our processes scale as we grow.

Champion technical excellence

Ensure our systems are secure, performant, and built to last.

Identify opportunities to optimize platform performance and support the team in implementing solutions.

Advocate for best practices in engineering, from design through deployment.

Dive into the code alongside your reports where necessary to help, guide, and improve the product capabilities we strive to deliver.

Leverage AI-powered tools and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance the team’s ability to deliver impactful software.

What you’ll bring

A demonstrated ability to deliver on expectations with minimal oversight, showing resourcefulness, determination, and excitement along the way.

3+ years of experience as a technical manager leading a team of 5+ developers.

5+ years of development experience, with solid technical foundations.

A proven track record of people and project management.

Strong skills in setting direction, managing priorities, and enabling people to do their best work.

Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.

Comfort navigating multiple projects, shifting priorities, and a fast-paced environment.

Experience working with Atlassian tools, GitHub and Mac/Linux environment

A customer-centric mindset - you believe “customer service is an attitude, not a department.” and understand the number one goal of the team is to deliver customer value.

Nice to have

Experience working with Ruby, Typescript, and AWS.

Location and working hours

This role is Hybrid, but requires flexibility to work from our office in Toronto 3 days per week. We prioritize outcomes over hours and trust our people to manage their time effectively.
