The Opportunity:* Lead a high-impact team: Lead a team of talented analytical scientists, serving as a line manager for 5-10 team members and fostering an environment of collaboration and excellence.
Shape strategic direction: Play a proactive role in the PTDC-A Leadership Team and PTDC-eLT, contributing to the development and execution of strategic plans for the section and department.
Drive innovation: Ensure the section's methodologies are at the forefront of technical knowledge, continuously seeking and implementing improvements to maintain a state-of-the-art laboratory environment.
Champion project success: Drive the efficient and timely development of analytical control packages for a broad portfolio of synthetic molecules, including direct materials, in-process controls, intermediates, and crude APIs. Conduct technical reviews and approvals for regulatory dossiers and briefing packages.
Cultivate talent: Identify, mentor, and promote the growth of your team members, conducting goal-setting and performance reviews in line with current HR guidelines.
Ensure operational excellence: Oversee and optimize the analytical development lifecycle from early-stage development to transfer to commercial, implementing lean processes and standardized practices to maximize efficiency. Actively support audits and Health Authority inspections.
Foster strong partnerships: Collaborate closely with section leads in Chemical Process Development to create seamless, lean workflows, minimizing handovers and maximizing efficiency. Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional partners across the Roche network, including gRED, pCMC, Regulatory, and Quality, to ensure flawless execution and strategic alignment.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, proactive problem prevention, and active problem-solving within your team and across the organization.
Champion the adoption of digital tools and modeling \& simulation approaches e.g. to optimize method development and predict stability behavior.
Uphold safety and compliance: Ensure full adherence to Roche's policies, procedures, and standards for safety, health, and environmental protection within your section.
Who you are:* A leader with a PhD or Master's degree in organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, or a related field.
You bring a minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including at least 5 years in drug development and people leadership.
You have a strong background in analytical chemistry including chromatographic methods.
You have an excellent understanding of drug development and the regulatory landscape, including ICH guidelines, cGMP standards, and data integrity.
You are a systems thinker with a continuous improvement mindset and demonstrate full autonomy, drive, and ownership in your work.
You are a collaborative and adaptive leader with excellent communication skills, capable of driving ownership, and comfortable navigating frequent changes in a dynamic environment.
You have a strong command of English, with German language skills being a valuable asset.
