About the role
As a Full Stack Engineer, you will be a core contributor to a team building secure and reliable platforms that handle sensitive data. This is an on-the-tools role where success is measured by the reliability of the core application flows. While you will work across the entire stack, your deep expertise in the backend is essential (approx. 70% Python focus). This is a day rate contract role based in Melbourne, with hybrid working.

Design, develop, and implement complex backend services and APIs using Python (and, to a lesser extent, C#) to handle crucial data processing and business logic.
Implement solutions that prioritise data integrity, security, and the reliable flow of sensitive PII (Personally Identifiable Information), adhering to strict security and privacy best practices.
Build clear, simple, and effective data communication channels (APIs) and contribute to the user interface layer using modern frameworks, primarily React and Angular, ensuring seamless user experiences.
Commit to continuous, high-quality code delivery, including thorough testing, debugging, and review.
Actively participate in team planning and provide confident technical feedback, working as a dedicated team player within the project structure.
Ideally you have:
Deep Proficiency in Python for enterprise or production backend development.
Experience with modern frontend frameworks, specifically React and/or Angular.
Proven track record of designing and building simple, reliable application flows (e.g., data ingestion, API communication).
Demonstrated commitment to security, reliability, and data governance when working with sensitive, real-world data.
Strong, confident, and clear communication skills, with a track record of being an effective team player.
Bonus points if you also have:
Solid experience developing across a mixed technology stack, including familiarity with C#.
Prior experience working on public sector technology projects, or government platforms.
Experience in secure development practices or compliance standards relevant to handling PII.
