The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) enables a more connected and secure government so that South Australian (SA) Government agencies can better serve our community. We do this by leading the SA Government’s technology, cyber security, and digital government strategies, as well as developing and delivering resilient and innovative ICT, digital and cyber security services, platforms, and critical infrastructure to SA Government agencies that are accessible, trusted, and secure.

Cloud Services, in OCIO, supports SA Government agencies by delivering whole of government cloud-based applications, software, infrastructure, and platforms including identity management services, the Microsoft 365 central tenancy platform, the Integration Platform as a Service, SMS and eFax Services to enhance collaboration, drive innovation and provide economies of scale that enable agencies to focus efforts on delivering services that meet customer needs.
About the role
We are currently seeking applications for a Cloud Services Engineer, to join the Office of the Chief Information Officer at the Department of Treasury and Finance on an ongoing basis or on a 2-year fixed term.
The Cloud Services Engineer will:
Report to the Deputy Director, Cloud Services and provides strategic leadership across the Cloud Services Operations team, driving whole-of-government digital transformation through multi-cloud solutions.
Lead technology roadmap development and oversee the design, implementation, and governance of new and enhanced cloud services across Microsoft 365, Azure, and AWS.
Manage critical incidents and service continuity, coordinating complex system recovery and ensuring timely resolution within agreed service levels.
Establish and enforce governance frameworks, operational standards, and compliance measures to meet risk management and audit obligations.
Deliver expert consultancy and advice to senior stakeholders, contributing to ICT strategies, service management frameworks (ITIL), and cross-government cloud initiatives.
Build and maintain strategic partnerships with ICT suppliers and stakeholders, fostering collaboration, capability uplift, and continuous improvement in cloud service delivery.
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
Expert technical knowledge of Microsoft 365 services, with working experience in Azure and AWS for cloud integration and operational support.
Proven ability to lead strategic planning and deliver multi-cloud solutions, including designing and implementing technology roadmaps.
Strong problem-solving and incident management skills, be able to resolve critical service disruptions and coordinate complex system recovery under pressure.
Leadership and team development capability, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a high-performance culture.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to provide authoritative advice and build strong partnerships across government and industry.
Commitment to governance and compliance, ensuring operational frameworks, risk management, and audit readiness are consistently met.
Demonstrated experience in managing complex cloud environments, including implementing security models, troubleshooting, and ensuring service continuit
