Salt is currently hiring a Senior Data Engineer for a client of ours in Munich.
The role is for freelance contractors and is paying around 100 euros per hour. Onsite presence is required 2/3 times a week.
Senior-level Data Engineering professional capable of acting as a Technical Lead and setting engineering direction
Very strong hands-on expertise in Python, dbt, and modern ETL/ELT design and implementation
Solid understanding of modern data platforms and lakehouse architectures; familiarity with Trino/Starburst is a strong plus
Proven experience designing scalable, maintainable data warehousing solutions and pipelines; working with cloud-native data ecosystems
Ability to proactively drive technical decisions, challenge assumptions, and push ideas forward in a corporate, stakeholder-rich environment
Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services would be a plus
Owns technical direction
and
day-to-day prioritization of the Data Engineering backlog
Acts as the decision authority at the intersection of DE / DevOps / Analytics, reducing friction and ambiguity
Establishes and documents clear ownership boundaries between teams (RACI, competence matrix)
Educates the client on the value of structured delivery management (acting as a proxy PM/PO)
