SeeByte, the global market leader in the development of smart software for uncrewed maritime systems, are looking to recruit a Software Test Engineer to join their team in Edinburgh, Hybrid (60% of time in office).

Main Purpose of the Role

As a Software Test engineer at SeeByte, you can expect to play a key role in exciting and varied projects involving uncrewed systems, working as part of a team developing SeeByte’s software solutions for our clients. SeeByte will support you in gaining an understanding of our domain, services and customers as you become an integral part of the team.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

You will work with SeeByte’s engineering project teams to deliver robust and innovative technology solutions to SeeByte’s customers worldwide. The role will include design, implementation and execution of tests of SeeByte’s software solutions.

You will work as part of the testing team and learn to identify software failures and usability issues, raising tickets for issues found.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

You have strong interpersonal skills and engagement with software development teams

Have an enthusiasm for new technology

Have knowledge of testing approaches and methodologies

Be a methodical thinker with good attention to detail

Strong problem-solving skills

Good understanding of defect tracking systems such as GitLab / Jira

Experience with the software development life cycle

Knowledge of Continuous Delivery frameworks (e.g. Jenkins)

Experience with setup and use of networked hardware simulators and virtual machines.

Desirable Experience

Experience designing and implementing automated tests

Experience working in an Agile project delivery environment

Use of current programming languages features (e.g. C#, C++ and Java)

Experience testing embedded software, specifically Linux environments.

Experience with Docker deployments
