What role will you perform?
Working under the direction of Head of Technical, you will:
Develop and maintain backend applications and websites using PHP
Design, develop and write code to interface directly with database systems
Troubleshoot, test, and maintain the core product software and databases to ensure strong optimisation and functionality
Interpret (with some front end implementation) provided layout elements into dynamic, interactive user interfaces
Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic
Optimise applications and websites for maximum speed and scalability
Write clean, well-designed code and contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle
Collaborate with other team members and clients to gather requirements and design solutions
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to bring innovative solutions to the team
Some experience, qualities and skills you will have:
Write clean, modern PHP code with 5+ years commercial experience.
Experienced with at least one PHP MVC framework - Codeigniter or Laravel is required
MySQL schema design and optimisation
Comfortable deploying to Linux servers
Practical Docker experience for development and deployment. Able to maintain and improve existing Docker and Docker Compose setups
Competence in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end integration
Solid understanding of MySQL and database-driven web applications
Solid understanding of OO and MVC programming and design patterns
Solid understanding of best practice security, testing and bug fixing principles
Confidence in integrating third-party APIs and troubleshooting technical issues
WordPress \& Shopify experience
Expertise in technical SEO implementation, structured data and search console
Tag Manager, consent mechanisms, analytics and conversion tracking
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Self-motivated and able to manage time effectively to meet deadlines
A passion for learning and staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies
High proficiency in English

Some experience, qualities and skills which would help your application:
Experience with CodeIgniter and/or Laravel
Understanding of OO and MVC programming and design patterns
Understanding of best practice security, testing and bug fixing principles
Experience using Git for version control and collaborative workflows
Confidence in integrating third-party APIs and troubleshooting technical issues
Other CMS experience - WordPress \& Shopify
Familiarity with WordPress theme or plugin development
Understanding of DevOps or basic server management
Proactive attitude toward improving development processes and code quality
Qualifications in a Web or Software Development, Marketing or Business related field (A Level or Degree equivalent)
Knowledge of Semantic/Fomantic/Tailwind CSS Frameworks
Email marketing experience
Strong interest in marketing and a desire to learn and grow in this field
Expertise in technical SEO implementation, structured data and search console
Broad understanding of SEO for content marketing
Tag Manager, consent mechanisms, analytics and conversion tracking
Accessibility and Usability best practices
Graphic or Web Design
