For our customer, a major Financial Services organisation, we are seeking a DevOps Engineer with strong skills across CI/CD \& Github/ Gitlab

This is the first hire into an R\&D function looking at Opensource/ Community led Code Hosting Platforms

Tasks \& Responsibilities

Architect the Platform:

Design and implement a secure, scalable, and efficient shared source environment.

Set up and manage version control systems (e.g., GitLab or GitHub Enterprise).

Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and high-quality code delivery.

Integrate software security best practices, including access control, vulnerability scanning, and dependency management.

Define Governance \& Process: o Develop an operational playbook for the shared source program, including clear guidelines on contributions, code reviews, versioning, and release management. o Implement technical controls to protect intellectual property and align with contribution models (e.g., CLAs).

Cultivate the Community: o Onboard contributors and provide technical support to ensure active participation. o Foster a collaborative and innovative environment by encouraging high-quality contributions.

Bridge the Gap:

Collaborate with legal teams to translate legal requirements (e.g., licensing and IP) into practical technical processes. o Ensure the shared source program is compliant while maintaining a developer-friendly environment.

Must Haves

Proven experience working within open-source or shared-source projects and environments, managing the implementation of open-source frameworks and systems.

Hands-on expertise with code-hosting platforms and developer ecosystems like GitLab or GitHub Enterprise.

Strong background in DevOps and CI/CD automation to ensure efficient and high-quality code maintenance.

Solid understanding of software security best practices, including access control, vulnerability scanning, and dependency management

Knowledge of software licensing, contribution models (e.g., CLAs), and intellectual property considerations in a collaborative coding context
