Te Tƫranga \| About the Role
Weâre looking for an entry/intermediate-level Management Accountant to join our team in Dunedin and help us deliver high-quality management information across the business.
Youâll be hands-on through month-end cycles, preparing management accounts, analysing variances, and explaining what the numbers mean for business performance. This role has a particular focus on the 5th Quarter (non-meat products) business stream, and youâll work closely with sales, inventory and supply chain teams to understand drivers of revenue, margin and movement.
This role combines core accounting with opportunities to build commercial capability, strengthen relationships across the business, and help finance add real value through insight.
In this role, youâll cover things like:
Delivering monthly management accounts including journals, accruals, and variance analysis
Supporting fortnightly and monthly reporting cycles
Ensure month-end tasks are completed accurately and on time
Balance sheet reconciliations, ledger governance and ensuring correct inventory recognition and valuation
Supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles for assigned business areas
Providing financial insight to managers to support operational and commercial decision-making
Designing, building and improving reports, dashboards and templates
Preparing reporting packs and commentary linking financial outcomes to operational activity
Assisting internal and external audit requirements as needed
This role is based at our Dunedin Hub on Princes Street â youâll join a great team of accountants and finance professionals and enjoy hybrid working flexibility.
Ću PĆ«kenga \| About You
You may be coming from a similar management accounting or assistant accountant role, or you could be looking to move out of practice into something more commercially focused. Youâre numerate, curious, and enjoy understanding the story behind the numbersânot just producing them.
Weâre looking for someone who has:
CA qualification (or actively working toward it)
At least 2 Years experience in accounting, ideally including management/analytical tasks
Experience in budgeting and forecasting cycles
A strong understanding of core accounting concepts and month-end processes
Strong Excel capability and confidence working with BI/reporting tools
Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with non-finance stakeholders
Familiarity with ERP or finance systems â D365 experience would be a bonus
Collaborative and commercially curious
A proactive, team-first mindset and appetite to learn
Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate outputs on time
Whether youâre already in industry or looking to make your first move out of practice, weâd love to hear from you.
