What the role is
As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data architecture solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data technologies with expertise in building and optimizing data infrastructure.
What you will be working on
Building data models and managing efficient data pipelines
Integrating diverse data sources to support DOS' data initiatives
Assisting with the adoption and implementation of ELT/ETL tools
Automating scripts for statistical processes
What we are looking for
Demonstrated experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), such as database design, query optimization, data modelling, and/or ingestion pipelines
Strong programming skills in Python
Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes
Understanding of data modelling techniques and best practices
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Possess Knowledge/experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Advantageous:
Experience with other programming languages like R, Java, Scala, etc.
Certifications in relevant data technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics)
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their data services
Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Hive
