Job Description

SkyCity Auckland is looking for a technically skilled and collaborative Data Engineering Technical Manager to help shape and deliver our modern data platform.

You're a seasoned data professional with a passion for technical excellence and collaborative leadership. You'll bring:

10+ years in data engineering, with deep expertise in data warehousing and architecture

Proven experience leading technical teams and delivering complex data projects

Advanced proficiency in Snowflake, SQL, and data modelling (e.g. star schema, data vault)

Strong experience with ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Azure Data Factory

Familiarity with CI/CD environments, version control, and automation tools

A user-centric approach to data design and reporting

Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Experience mentoring and coaching within a technical team

Preferred: Experience with tools like Power BI, Business Objects, DBT, WhereScape Red

, you'll provide technical leadership to the Data Engineering team, guiding the design, build, and migration of SkyCity's data platforms. You'll be responsible for:

Leading the implementation of Snowflake and decommissioning legacy systems

Driving technical excellence and best practices across data architecture and engineering

Collaborating with stakeholders to align data solutions with business needs

Optimising data pipelines, performance, and cost efficiency

Ensuring data integrity, governance, and audit-readiness

Supporting innovation, continuous improvement, and team development

This is a hands-on role focused on delivery, influence, and enabling SkyCity to make data-driven decisions through a modern, scalable, and user-friendly data environment.
