Job Description

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Frontend Developer to join our dynamic software development team working with leading-edge technologies to build innovative products.

The role of the Frontend Developer at Solace Global Risk Ltd is to work as part of an agile software development team to meet the needs of the business and our clients.

This role will focus on building and enhancing the a React-based user interface. They will ensure that the client-side experience is performant, accessible, and responsive across a range of devices, while integrating seamlessly with APIs.

The successful candidate should strive to standardise UI elements and help accelerate feature delivery, improve user experience, accessibility and design consistency, using product design scopes and API documentation to deliver features.

In this role, you will be actively involved in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including design, development, testing, deployment, release, and monitoring of applications.

Accountabilities and responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain modern, high-performance front-end applications using React (TypeScript) and supporting technologies.

Implement accessible and responsive UI components, ensuring compliance with WCAG standards and consistent experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, QA engineers, and stakeholders to translate design concepts into intuitive, visually appealing, and performant interfaces.

Integrate front-end applications with RESTful and GraphQL APIs, working closely with backend developers to ensure seamless data exchange and consistency.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process, including performance optimisation, component reusability, accessibility, and coding standards.

Participate in sprint planning, estimation, code reviews, and agile ceremonies, providing input on design feasibility and front-end best practices.

Positively influence the success of the technical team, supporting knowledge sharing, mentoring, and innovation.

Support critical production issues when required as part of the on-call rota.

Required Competencies:

Strong expertise in React with TypeScript, including hooks, context, and component-driven design.

Deep understanding of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and web accessibility (WCAG / ARIA) standards.

Skilled in state management (e.g., Redux, Zustand, Recoil, or Context API) and component libraries (e.g., MUI, DevExtreme, or similar).

Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred) and front-end build tools (Webpack, Vite, or similar).

Solid grasp of version control (Git), code review practices, and agile delivery methods (Scrum/Kanban).

Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a passion for delivering high-quality, user-centred products.

Desirable Skills/Qualifications

Experience with performance profiling and optimisation (e.g., Lighthouse, Core Web Vitals, React Profiler).

Familiarity with design systems and component documentation (e.g., Storybook).

Experience working with Application Insights, Azure Monitor, or similar observability tools for front-end telemetry.

Understanding of secure coding practices, especially in relation to front-end security (XSS, CSRF, content security policies).

Exposure to progressive web app (PWA) concepts or service workers.

Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on maintainability, scalability, and continuous improvement.
