Senior Back-End Engineer (.NET / Azure) - Build the backbone of Europe’s EV charging networks
EV charging only works if the software underneath it
does
.
This team builds the systems that keep charging stations online, payments flowing, and fleets moving across Europe, at scale, in real time.
They’re not standing still. The engineering org is evolving towards a stronger product engineering model, and this hire is part of that shift.
This is a role for backend engineers who want real ownership, a growing scope, and problems that don’t have copy-paste answers.
The kind of work you’ll be pulled into
Designing and building cloud-native services in C# / .NET that run 24/7
Working with event-driven, distributed systems (Azure Functions, Service Bus, Event Grid)
Owning services end-to-end, from first design decisions to production behaviour
Tackling scale, latency, data consistency, and failure modes that only show up in the real world
Improving observability, reliability, and performance where it actually matters
Working shoulder-to-shoulder with product to shape
what
gets built, not just
how
The stack includes Azure, Cosmos DB, Elasticsearch, CI/CD, automated testing, and IaC, but the real challenge is building systems that stay boring under pressure.
Who this is this for?
You might already be a senior engineer who enjoys leading technically and setting direction.
Or you might be a high-potential backend engineer who’s brushing up against senior scope and wants the space — and trust — to step into it properly.
What matters most:
Strong backend experience in
C# / .NET
(or a similar OO ecosystem)
Solid cloud experience (Azure ideal, AWS/GCP fine)
Exposure to
microservices and distributed systems
Curiosity about architecture and trade-offs, not just frameworks
Comfort owning problems rather than waiting for instructions
Titles are flexible. Expectations aren’t.
Things that’ll help
(but won’t block you)
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / Bicep)
Event-driven architecture experience
Strong API design instincts
Enjoyment of debugging messy, production-only problems
Why engineers join?
You get real ownership, not pretend autonomy
Clear domains, meaningful problems, and room to influence the platform
Product-led teams with engineers involved early, not bolted on later
A modern stack with momentum behind it
Direct impact on EV charging infrastructure used across Europe
This team is deliberately investing in people who can grow with the platform — not just maintain it.
Offer:
€70k–€85k base salary (flex depending on experience and trajectory)
27 days holiday + up to 20 days remote from anywhere in the EU
Pension and holiday allowance
Sustainable commuting options (e-bike, public transport, travel coverage)
Training budget and internal mobility
International team
If you’re the kind of engineer who wants more responsibility than your title allows — this is worth a look.
Drop me a line and I’ll give you the honest version, not the sales pitch.
