Vacancy: 038984 - Postdoctoral Researcher - Research Engineer
Contract: Specified Purpose - 18 months
Salary: €46,305 – Point 1 of IUA Postdoctoral Researcher (PD1) salary scale
The Faculty of Engineering seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Research Engineer to support its research in advanced radar-based health monitoring technologies. This position is part of Ireland’s “Accelerating Research to Commercialisation” (ARC) Hub Programme. The appointed researcher will collaborate closely with Principal Investigators, Directors of the Centre of Research and Enterprise in Engineering (engCORE), and the Director of Engineering Research \& Innovation to advance radar-based sensing technologies for health applications.
The project, titled “Non-Contact Vital Sign Detection Radar,” aims to develop a millimeter-wave MIMO radar for detecting vital signs such as heart rate and respiration. This involves designing, testing, and validating radar-based signal processing techniques for non-contact physiological monitoring. The project is funded by the SFI ARC Hub for ICT, led by Technological University Dublin, and focuses on key engineering domains, including Radar Signal Processing, Biomedical Sensing, Machine Learning for Sensor Applications, and Embedded Systems for Real-time Signal Analysis. The Post-Doctoral Research Engineer will be responsible for experimental design, data collection and analysis, algorithm development, and prototype validation.
The role also involves collaborating with industry partners, supervising postgraduate students, preparing technical reports, publishing research findings, and contributing to funding proposals.
