Kotlin Developer – Full-time \| Remote \| Permanent (UK)

Experience Required: 0–12 years

Location: Fully Remote (UK-based)

Employment Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs using Kotlin.

Collaborate with product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features.

Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following industry standards.

Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.

Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues in production and staging environments.

Work within Agile/Scrum workflows and deliver within sprint timelines.

Responsibilities

Assist in development of Kotlin backend features under guidance.

Write simple services, unit tests, and bug fixes.

Learn Kotlin frameworks and internal systems.

Collaborate closely with senior developers to improve skills.

Deliver end-to-end features independently.

Design scalable microservices and RESTful APIs.

Optimise performance and refactor existing modules.

Implement CI/CD automation and testing strategies.

Collaborate in architecture discussions and contribute technical insights.

Lead architectural decisions and backend design.

Own critical systems and ensure reliability, scalability, and security.

Mentor junior developers and conduct deep technical code reviews.

Drive improvements in coding standards, system observability, and dev processes.

Work with engineering leadership to shape product and technical roadmap.

Required Technical Skills

Strong experience with Kotlin (or strong Java experience transitioning to Kotlin).

Solid understanding of backend development concepts:

REST APIs, microservices, concurrency

Data structures \& algorithms

Object-oriented and functional programming

Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases:

PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.

Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.

Understanding of testing frameworks (JUnit, MockK, etc.).

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Effective communication skills (written \& verbal) – essential for fully remote roles.

Ability to collaborate well within distributed teams.

Ownership mindset and ability to deliver independently.

Continuous learning attitude and adaptability.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £30,000.00-£75,000.00 per year
