, powered by Spotyaa, is a people-powered social utility that shows you what’s happening in the real world, right now. We map local events, deals, and live activity—shared by real people, not algorithms. We're building a trusted community network to make local discovery authentic and immediate.
We are in the final stretch of our MVP and need a skilled senior developer to help us cross the finish line. This is a high-impact role where your code will be central to our public launch.
The Role:
Make Your Mark on a Launch-Ready MVP
As a Senior Full-Stack Developer, you will be the key technical force alongside our lead engineer to finalize, optimize, and deploy the HAPPSMAP platform. You'll be deep in the code, tackling complex challenges and ensuring a robust, scalable, and polished product across mobile and web.
Your Core Responsibilities:
Full-Stack Development:
Hands-on coding across our entire tech stack: React Native \& React (Front-End), Java (Backend), and AWS (Infrastructure).
Cross-Platform Feature Development:
Develop, review, implement, and deploy changes and updates for iOS, Android, and Web platforms.
QA \& Test Automation:
Implement and maintain QA Automation testing across all platforms (mobile and web) to ensure code quality and stability.
API \& Backend Integration:
Build, integrate, and maintain secure RESTful APIs connecting our front-end to Java backend services.
Cloud \& DevOps Management:
Configure, manage, and monitor AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, and S3. Manage GitHub workflows, code reviews, and documentation.
Collaborative Launch:
Work directly with the founder and lead developer to set technical priorities, ensure code quality, and navigate the app store deployment process.
Who You Are (Requirements):
5+ years of professional full-stack development experience.
Proven, hands-on expertise in our core stack: React Native, React, Java, and AWS.
Must be able to develop, review, and implement changes and updates for iOS, Android, and Web.
Strong experience with QA Automation testing frameworks and practices for mobile and web.
Strong experience building and integrating RESTful APIs.
A sharp problem-solver with excellent debugging and analytical skills.
Self-motivated, with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage your time effectively in a remote setting.
Familiarity with GitHub and collaborative development best practices.
Bonus Points (Preferred Skills):
Experience with real-time features like push notifications, chat, or media uploads.
Familiarity with mobile app deployment to iOS \& Android App Stores.
Experience in a fast-paced startup or MVP launch environment.

Full-time contract (≈40 hours/week).
Duration:
Initial focus is on MVP launch (12 +weeks), with a strong potential to extend for ongoing development.
Location:
Fully remote. We are based in NZ but welcome global talent.
