Frontend Engineer (JavaScript / React) – Fintech Platform (London)
A high-growth fintech scale-up is looking for a
JavaScript/React Engineer
to join its global product engineering team in London.
The company is building a modern, data-centric platform used by financial professionals to analyse markets, explore complex datasets, and make faster, better-informed investment decisions. As the platform scales, the engineering team is focused on delivering responsive, high-quality web applications and the services that power them.
This role sits within a collaborative product engineering group responsible for building and evolving the firm’s data-driven tools. You’ll work closely with engineers, product teams, and data specialists to turn complex datasets into intuitive, powerful applications.
It’s a hands-on role with meaningful ownership, where you’ll primarily focus on
React-based frontend development
while contributing across the wider application stack where needed.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Build modern, responsive web applications that surface complex financial and data-driven insights through intuitive user interfaces.
Develop frontend functionality using
JavaScript, React, and Next.js
, with a strong focus on performance and user experience.
Work with backend APIs and services, including
Node.js
, to deliver full product features.
Collaborate with product teams and internal stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into well-designed technical solutions.
Take ownership of features and applications from design and development through to deployment and ongoing improvement.
Contribute to building scalable, reliable applications that support data-heavy products.
Help improve engineering practices, tooling, and platform architecture as the company continues to grow.
What You Bring:
4+ years of professional software engineering experience
, preferably within a
fintech, technology scale-up, or startup environment
.
A
degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related technical field from a Russell Group or leading global university
.
Strong experience building modern web applications with
JavaScript and React
.
Experience working with
Node.js
and modern frameworks such as
Next.js
.
Experience integrating frontend applications with backend services and APIs.
Familiarity with relational databases and/or document-based data stores.
Experience contributing to end-to-end product or application development.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both engineers and product stakeholders.
Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new technologies and improving existing systems.
Nice to Have:
Experience working with large-scale datasets or data-driven applications.
Exposure to distributed systems or highly available platforms.
Experience with cloud-based architectures or modern infrastructure tooling.
Familiarity with additional backend technologies or systems languages such as Python/Go/Rust.
