Overall purpose and objective of position

This technical role centers on the processes and optimization of our core banking platform. A larger share of duties for this position is dedicated to software development: engineering and maintaining custom code (PowerOn), architecting SQL/SSRS reports, and building automations via Python and PowerShell. The remaining duties focus on technical systems oversight, including project implementation, troubleshooting, and cross-departmental collaboration. As you develop deep expertise in the core platform ecosystem, you will serve as a key bridge between business strategy and system logic, ensuring the core remains efficient, secure, and data-driven.

Essential Responsibilities

· Report to and coordinate with the Chief Information Officer on all technical aspects related to the core.

· Learn and attain proficiency in PowerOn (Symitar) Programming to support development, maintenance, and implementations of projects on the core.

· Learn and assist with SQL reporting, to help generate and architect reports that provide data-driven decisions for the business.

· Learn and develop expertise in the Core Banking platform (Symitar) to provide technical oversight, support, and assistance for all technical related tasks on the core system.

· Learn and help support scripts (Python, PowerShell, etc.) and core automations for business-critical activities or efficiency tasks.

· Learn and attain proficiency in HTML/JavaScript for UI front-end Development used for projects within the core system.

· Perform daily, monthly, and yearly business critical operational tasks on the core system.

· Coordinate with the CIO and other departments on new or existing technical projects and implementations.

· Coordinate with the CIO and other departments on identifying and resolving efficiency issues with a focus on the core system.

· Coordinate professionally and appropriately with stakeholders to ensure timely and satisfactory results on projects and implementations.

· Coordinate with the endpoint administrator on core changes and application deployments.

· Conduct Code reviews to find issues, security flaws, or inefficiencies in existing code and provide updates to the CIO.

· Work professionally and positively with third-party vendors during all projects or other interactions.

· Assist various departments and vendors in troubleshooting tier 1 and 2 technical issues related to the core.

· Maintain clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

· Identify, log, and track existing automations and scripts.

· Adheres to all Federal and State laws and regulations applicable to the credit union.

· Always consider and apply the informational security aspect of every task and implementation.

Minimum qualifications, required or desired KSAs (competencies), and required or desired licenses or certifications

· Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Computer Science or related field; or an associate’s degree (AS) combined with 1-2 years of relevant technical experience; Or 3-4 years of extensive experience in programming development and modern programming languages.

· Competency or experience in at least one or more of the following modern languages and scripting: Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, SQL, Bash, and PHP.

· Basic understanding of APIs and how systems can communicate via REST/SOAP.

· Experience or familiarity with data visualization or reporting platforms (SSRS) is a significant plus.

· Experience in PowerOn Symform Programming is a major plus but not required.

· Experience in IT related to financial institutions, or Symitar is a major plus but not required.

· Analytical problem-solving and the ability to research and troubleshoot independently.

· Genuine interest in learning the intricate operations of financial institution core systems.

· Basic comfort with command-line environments like Linux is a plus.

· Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical staff.

· Certifications in the following are a plus but not required:

o any SQL-related Certification

o any modern programming language Certification

o Security+ or equivalent

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
