Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Full Stack Data Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Mexico. Our client is a science-led biopharmaceutical company specializing in discovering, developing, and commercializing prescription medicines.
You will work almost exclusively on the AWS data platform. The project team plays a key role in making clinical trial data available to stakeholders by using scalable, cloud-based ETLs managed via a web application. It is a partially business-facing role, so your communication and technical skills are equally important; you will be setting expectations, reporting progress, and managing relationships with senior stakeholders. The role is a technical point of reference in the team and needs a collaborative delivery approach to be successful. The team prefers Agile but chooses the strategy that best suits the team and stakeholders. So, experience with a variety of delivery management approaches will be useful. You'll be part of a team of engineers who work closely with IT colleagues across the world in Mexico, Spain, India, and the UK.
Requirements:
Relevant experience in Frontend and JavaScript/Typescript development, but with a stronger focus on data and backend.
Knowledge of SQL (preferably with PostgreSQL).
Excellent knowledge of Python, source control (Git), and versioning.
Understanding of big data, ETL \& cloud techniques, and tools (e.g., AWS-based Python, Terraform, Glue, S3, SQS are currently used).
Good knowledge of the AWS ecosystem.
DevOps automation-first mindset, with extensive experience with GitHub/GitHub Actions (or similar tools).
Understanding automated tests, both front and backend.
Expertise in design and document development best practices.
Strong knowledge of API design (documentation, REST, etc.)
Strong analytical skills with expertise in data manipulation.
Understanding of triaging and addressing tickets.
Experience in technical leadership in data and analytics.
Experience working in a global team.
An excellent set of interpersonal skills \& a collaborative approach to delivery.
The ability to liaise with and build strong relationships with business colleagues.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop/enhance, and maintain product/scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for efficient data ingestion and processing.
Design, build, and maintain REST API’s intended for system integration.
Develop and support a front-end application.
Support solution development and testing, provide technical leadership, and take responsibility for delivery.
Assist stakeholders, including the data, design, product, and executive teams, with technical data difficulties.
Keep the AWS base infrastructure properly maintained.
Provide performance tuning of SQL and ETL pipelines.
Find opportunities for efficiency and automation.
Troubleshoot data issues, analyze end-to-end data pipelines, and work with users in resolving issues.
Deliver technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle, from the initial development of a technical design based on a blueprint, right through to finding opportunities for reducing operating costs.
NICE TO HAVE:
Experience with Agile practices using tools such as Jira.
Familiarity with Snowflake, DBT, Redshift (inc. Spectrum), and Aurora.
Familiarity with visualization technologies (the project is focused on Power BI).
Good knowledge of AI Codegen opportunities, capabilities, and weaknesses.
