The Opportunity:
The Team Lead – Kubernetes Operations is a hands on technical leader responsible for the ownership, reliability, and evolution of the organization’s Kubernetes platforms, while leading and developing a team of Site Reliability Engineers (SREs). This role blends deep technical expertise with people leadership, platform strategy, and operational excellence.
You will be accountable for the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of Kubernetes based clusters across on prem and cloud environments, ensuring they are secure, stable, scalable, automated, and aligned with organizational standards.
This is a hybrid role with flexible onsite expectations, typically 1 to 2 days per week. New employees are expected to be onsite 2 to 3 times a week during their first three months to support onboarding and collaboration. #LI-Hybrid
About The Role:
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Ownership \& Technical Leadership
Own the end to end lifecycle of Kubernetes platforms, including design, build, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement
Lead the technical direction for Kubernetes platforms, ensuring high availability, performance, and security
Define and enforce platform standards, governance, and best practices
Act as a subject matter expert for Kubernetes and the container ecosystem
Infrastructure as Code \& Automation
Lead the implementation and evolution of the automation and GitOps pipelines to manage the clusters
Drive configuration management, platform automation, and self-service capabilities
Work with the DevOps team to integrate CI/CD pipelines with Kubernetes platforms to support application delivery teams to manage their applications
Continuously improving operational efficiency through tooling and automation
Team Leadership \& Development
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Site Reliability Engineers
Provide technical guidance, workload prioritization, and performance feedback
Foster a culture of reliability, accountability, and continuous improvement
Support incident management, root cause analysis, and post incident learning
Collaboration \& Delivery
Partner with application, platform, security, and infrastructure teams to support workloads running on Kubernetes
Assist with translating application requirements into platform designs and deployment strategies
Contribute to platform roadmaps and ensure alignment with broader technology strategy
Support migration and modernization initiatives, including containerization of existing workloads
What You Need to Succeed:
Education:
4-year degree (preferably in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or similar).
Experience:
5+ years hands-on experience in building, designing, and maintaining Kubernetes based platforms
5+ years of hands-on technical working experience in the use of configuration management and automation tools.
Proven hands-on experience installing, managing and designing Kubernetes platforms (OpenShift is preferred)
Strong understanding of container orchestration, networking, storage, and security
Strong automation experience including deployment, monitoring, and scaling automation through pipelines and GitOps
Familiar with Agile methodologies
Experience in administering, maintaining, and troubleshooting Unix based operating systems
Experience building and operating automation and GitOps pipelines
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical teams
Experience working in hybrid and/or cloud environments
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non technical stakeholders
Skills:
Hands on experience working with OpenShift – Installation, Secret Management, Image Scanning, Certificates, SSL/TLS, persistent storage solutions, SELinux
Technical knowledge of DevOps techniques
Strong automation experience including deployment, monitoring, and scaling automation
Hands on experience with Unix commands and scripting
Familiar with Agile methodologies, and Waterfall
Experience in administering, maintaining, and troubleshooting Unix based operating systems
Experience building and maintaining container-based images
Kubernetes Platforms (OpenShift, AKS)
Infrastructure (Server, Storage, Network)
Linux Operating System Administration
Virtualization, Scripting, Database, Architecture Design, Resource Management, Agile methodologies, and Waterfall
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
