Job Description

Forget boring manual testing! Join our Synera team on the mission to reach 100% automation, working across web and desktop environments with various tech stacks.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

We're looking for a QA Engineer who's passionate about test automation and loves solving technical challenges across different tech stacks. At Synera, you'll work on a unique mix of web and desktop applications that connect AI, engineering tools, and complex user workflows – and you'll have the freedom to automate the boring stuff and focus on what matters.

As part of the Chimeras team, you'll be the advocate for software quality. You'll pair with developers to share knowledge, build automated tests that ship in the same sprint as new features, and help us scale quality as we scale our platform. This isn't about finding bugs – it's about preventing them and making our entire engineering process faster and more reliable.

Your tasks will be:

Build \& maintain automated test pipelines

You extend our Playwright end-to-end test suite, reduce manual regression testing time, and keep our CI/CD pipelines running smoothly. Your goal: automate the repetitive stuff so the team can ship faster with confidence.

Collaborate closely with developers

You join daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and backlog refinement sessions. You collaborate with developers to understand features deeply, validate acceptance criteria and ship features to production together.

Investigate \& solve complex issues

You dig into bug reports from users and support, reproduce tricky issues, and work with the team to understand root causes. You design test scenarios for both new and existing functionality across different platforms.

Ship quality in every sprint

You work in a fast-paced environment where QA isn't a separate phase – it's integrated. You validate features, monitor pipelines, and ensure that quality is built in from day one.

Learn \& share knowledge

You participate in team initiatives to explore new tools, test LLM-powered features, and experiment with innovative approaches to quality.

In 3 months:

You become a reliable sprint team member - testing changes to complete tickets, helping the team achieve sprint goals, and ensuring quality is built into every feature we ship.

In 6 months:

You'll extend our automated end-to-end Playwright pipeline to include test cases currently done manually, integrating seamlessly into our sprint workflows.

You also take ownership of the bug backlog - prioritizing issues, communicating with the Product Manager, and ensuring bugs are planned and tracked for each sprint.

In 12 months:

Your automation work will reduce manual regression testing time from 4 hours to 2 hours, freeing the team to focus on innovation while maintaining high quality.

You can trace bugs back to the changes that caused them, helping us prevent similar issues in the future.

Here is our team at last year’s summer event - join us at the next one!

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

Flexible working: you decide when \& where to work (as long as you have a residency in Germany).

Flexible public holidays: swap days off according to your values and beliefs!

Home office setup support + access to our office in Bremen.

Personal development budget of €2,000 to attend conferences and trainings or buy interesting books to improve in an area of your choice.

We don't count your vacation days, as we trust all our team members to decide what's best for them and the company.

To support your personal and professional well-being, we offer company fitness with Wellpass and mental health platform nilo.

Regular team events, virtual coffee breaks, and spontaneous afterworks. We also get together as a whole company for 2-3 day off-sites twice a year!

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Even if you don't meet these criteria perfectly but believe you have lots to bring to the role, we encourage you to apply. We know it's tough, but please keep in mind that you don't have to match all the listed requirements exactly to be considered for this role.

You resonate with Synera's Core Values - they're central to how we work, and we'll explore them together in your first interview.

You have demonstrated experience with testing methodologies and are comfortable with standard QA and development tools.

You have hands-on experience with Playwright or similar test automation tools (Selenium WebDriver, WebdriverIO, TestComplete).

You can write clean code in at least one high-level/script language (C#, Python, or JavaScript).

You can understand requirements and acceptance criteria from stakeholders and translate them into test scenarios.

You’re a confident English communicator.

P.S. Synera is a place where everyone can grow. So, however you identify and whatever background you bring with you, please apply if this is a role that would make you excited to come to work every day, and be prepared to share with us how your perspective will bring something unique and valuable to our R\&D team.
