We're looking for DevOps Engineer for one of our client's project.
About the Team
You will join a multicultural
Database Competence Center
of approximately 35–40 professionals located across Amsterdam, Toulouse, and Paris, including 12 colleagues based in the Netherlands. The team manages highly available transactional database environments (Redis, MySQL) running on Linux across on-premise datacenters and public cloud platforms (Azure \& Google Cloud).
The department focuses on transforming traditional database operations into a fully automated,
Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
and
DevOps-oriented
practice. While the team works extensively with SQL and NoSQL technologies, this is
not
a BI or data warehousing environment.
Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on
Cloud \& DevOps Coach
with strong people skills and a passion for enabling others. In this role, you will guide our engineers through the transition from manual operations toward automated, cloud-native, and DevOps-aligned practices. You will serve as a mentor, trainer, and cultural ambassador, helping the team adopt Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, and modern operational principles.
Your focus will be approximately:
80% Coaching, Training \& Enablement
20% Hands-on Technical Guidance
(supporting engineers, reviewing implementations, promoting best practices)
This is
not
an operational engineering role: you will not own Jira tickets or perform daily run-operations. Instead, you will foster learning, challenge legacy approaches, and drive continuous improvement across a distributed team.
Key Responsibilities
Coach and mentor engineers in adopting
DevOps
,
IaC
, and cloud-native ways of working.
Facilitate knowledge transfer, promote collaboration, and drive mindset change within a multicultural team.
Support the development, standardization, and improvement of practices for
Terraform
,
GitHub Actions
, and
Ansible
.
Guide engineers in effective and consistent use of
Azure
and
Google Cloud Platform
services.
Strengthen collaboration between on-premise and cloud-focused colleagues.
Deliver structured workshops, training programs, and follow-up sessions to measure knowledge adoption.
Provide insights and recommendations to the manager and product manager regarding team maturity, skill progression, and training needs.
Travel occasionally to
Toulouse
and
Paris
to coach and support local teams.
Required Skills \& Experience
5+ years of experience
supporting or leading teams through DevOps transformation, cloud adoption, or IaC implementation.
Proven track record as a
coach, trainer, or change facilitator
— beyond purely technical leadership roles.
Strong technical understanding of:
Infrastructure-as-Code:
Terraform
Automation \& CI/CD:
GitHub Actions, Ansible
Cloud Platforms:
Azure \& GCP (cloud-agnostic mindset is a plus)
Solid experience working with
Linux-based
systems and hybrid cloud environments.
Familiarity with database services such as
PostgreSQL, Oracle Exadata, CosmosDB, CloudSQL
, or similar technologies.
Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build trust, challenge old habits constructively, and inspire team growth.
