Overview:
We are seeking a Junior DevOps Engineer to join our team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs in delivering innovative, mission-critical solutions. In this role, you’ll help streamline the software development lifecycle from requirements to production monitoring. You’ll leverage automation, open-source tools, and cloud resources to reduce manual tasks and enable innovation. This is an opportunity to expand your skills in automation, cloud-based development, and DevSecOps practices.
Note: This position includes participation in an on-call rotation (one week every 4–6 weeks).
Education \& Certification Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent.
Substitution: 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
Clearance Requirements:
Ability to obtain VA Medium-Background Investigation clearance.
Responsibilities:
Implement continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
Automate infrastructure and application deployments using scripting and IaC tools.
Support Linux systems engineering efforts.
Administer container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS).
Collaborate with development teams to streamline SDLC processes.
Participate in on-call rotation for production support.
Qualifications:
1+ years supporting Linux systems engineering efforts.
1+ years administering container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or EKS).
1+ years scripting and automation experience (Ansible, Python, Bash, Terraform).
Experience with complex build systems.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies or SDLC.
Additional/Desired Skills:
Experience with back-end software development.
Familiarity with AWS or Azure for automated DevSecOps pipelines.
Experience configuring Opensearch clusters.
Knowledge of security scanning tools and vulnerability remediation.
Knowledge of Java.
