Our leading Federal Government client are hiring for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join the organisation. This role is ideally Canberra based and is an initial 12 month contract (commencing from the 13th of February 2026), with further extensions planned.
The DevOps Engineer is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organisation's Continuous Delivery Pipelines and non-production environments, including the development and upkeep of in-house applications and infrastructure. This role ensures the reliability, scalability, and automation of deployment processes across containerised and cloud platforms. Working with various agile, multi-disciplinary delivery teams, the DevOps Engineer supports IT systems that enable critical business outcomes. They collaborate closely with fellow DevOps Engineers, Release Engineers, and other technical and delivery staff to ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices in software delivery and configuration management.
This role requires someone who is holding a Baseline Security Clearance or able to gain this - possessing current Australian Citizenship as a requirement.

Daily Rate:
$900 to $1,000 + Super per day.
Location:
Ideally Canberra based candidates (2606) Office (2 days per week minimum)/WFH Hybrid. Candidates from Sydney will also be considered.
Key Accountabilities:
Automating and orchestrating deployment and provisioning tasks in cloud and containerised environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Kubernetes/EKS).
Providing configuration support and resolving software environment issues for development and testing teams.
Building and managing release kits and overseeing distribution to pre-production and production environments in accordance with corporate change management protocols.
Maintaining and upgrading DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Digital.ai, SonarQube, and GitHub.
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the automation and efficiency of the delivery pipeline.
Essential Criteria:
Experience implementing solutions on major Cloud Services Providers including AWS or Azure.
Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps/IaC tools, techniques, and configuration.
Experience in container orchestration, specifically Docker, Kaniko, Kubernetes (EKS).
Previous development experience with common languages like Java, Groovy and Python.
Experience in CI tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps and in build tools such as maven, gradle and npm.
The ability to lead technical staff in the delivery of allocated projects, with proven time management skills.
Candidates ideally are based in the ACT, with consideration also to Sydney based candidates. Additionally, you must possess Australian Citizenship and be able to obtain/or currently possess Baseline Security Clearance.
