Description Of Role
Technical Marine Service is seeking an Automation and Controls Engineer to manage marine automation projects from initial concept and proposal development through electrical design and programming, technical documentation development and regulatory submittal, assembly and testing, installation and commissioning, customer training, and post-installation support.
Projects include a wide variety of challenging marine automation systems applications, including combustion and propulsion plant automation, crane controls, cargo handling systems, auxiliary equipment controls, and ballast and tank level monitoring systems.
Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience as a Controls Engineer, preferably in the marine industry. A BS degree in Marine or Electrical Engineering is desirable, however, four additional years of relevant career experience are an acceptable substitute for an engineering degree.
A strong working knowledge of PLC, SCADA and HMI programming, industrial networking protocols, SCADA systems, and electrical drive controls is required.
Experience with Emerson PACSystems, Siemens TIA Portal, Yokogawa Programmable Controllers and Cimplicity SCADA software products is highly desirable.
Frequent travel to West Coast port cities (Seattle/ Tacoma, San Francisco/ Oakland, Long Beach, and San Diego) is required, with occasional travel to US East Coast and Gulf Coast port cities.
Strong troubleshooting and technical support skills are required, as well as strong project management and interpersonal skills.
Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, and be able to pass a background check and acquire a TWIC card.
