What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a Software Product Support Engineer for the thermal system to join our Service Engineering team in Europe which is part of the Vehicle Software organization. This role is at a key connection point between the needs of the European market and global software development teams.
This role ensures the vehicle thermal system operates as intended, while minimizing cost of servicing and ownership. This involves analyzing data to identify issues or trends, creating repair and diagnostic procedures for vehicle repair technicians, and developing software-based fixes and diagnosability enhancements which roll out Over-The-Air to vehicles. When a failure mode is unknown or new, Service Engineering get to the root cause and own issues through to resolution. The role has a particular focus on understanding thermal behaviors, failures and developing mitigations for extreme-weather areas in EMEA such as Norway or the Middle East.
This role will fit a self-driven engineer that thrives when working on complex, multi-facetted projects that impact thousands of vehicle technicians and millions of customers.
What You'll Do* Debug and diagnose thermal system field failures remotely and directly in the field, collaborating closely with worldwide service teams. Some occasional travel to perform onsite root cause analysis, testing and training is necessary.
Develop diagnostic content and onboard and offboard diagnostic software tools. This includes contributing to the “Service Mode” on-board diagnostic tool, developing vehicle alerts, and automating repair plans for service visits.
Diagnose issues at scale – identify and track common issues or trends, and coordinate with relevant teams to perform further root cause analysis where necessary.
Design, develop and test improvements, mitigations and diagnostic enhancements in software to mitigate or eliminate issues.
Review user experience issues and deficiencies, particularly focusing on extreme-weather scenarios, and work with development teams to address by firmware or hardware improvements
What You'll Bring* MS degree in CS, CE, EE, ME or similar fields.
Must be fluent in English (additional foreign languages a plus).
Experience with programming in C
Understanding of refrigerant loop and heat pump theory. F-gas certification a plus.
