We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Manual Tester to join our dynamic team. This role is critical in ensuring the quality and reliability of our applications by verifying functionality against detailed specifications. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the software development lifecycle by designing, executing, and managing comprehensive manual test plans and cases. Working closely with QA leads, developers, and business analysts, the Senior Manual Tester will help deliver robust, defect-free software solutions that meet and exceed customer expectations in a fast-paced Agile environment.
Responsibilities
Building, modifying, and executing detailed test plans, test cases, and scripts to validate application functionality. This includes covering both positive and negative scenarios to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
Identifying, reporting, and tracking defects through to closure using Azure DevOps Test Plan features. Collaborate with development teams to prioritize and resolve issues efficiently.
Actively participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Review requirements and acceptance criteria to ensure clarity and testability.
Work closely with QA leads, developers, and business analysts to understand business needs and technical requirements, ensuring alignment and quality delivery.
Create and maintain detailed documentation of test cases, test results, and defect reports to support transparency and traceability.
Perform thorough manual testing to validate new features and existing functionality, ensuring the software meets business and technical requirements.
While primarily focused on manual testing, understand automated test script execution and results to complement manual efforts and improve overall test coverage.
Provide regular updates on testing progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders, ensuring timely communication and resolution.
Contribute to process improvements in testing methodologies, tools, and best practices to enhance team efficiency and product quality.
Requirements
SQL: Proficient in writing complex SQL queries to validate data integrity and support backend testing. Ability to analyze and manipulate data sets to verify application behavior.
Oracle PL/SQL: Strong experience with Oracle PL/SQL for database testing, including writing and executing stored procedures, functions, and triggers to validate business logic at the database level.
Microsoft Excel: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, particularly with functions like VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP, to analyze test data, compare results, and generate reports efficiently.
Azure DevOps: Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps Test Plan features for managing test cases, executing tests, logging defects, and tracking progress within an Agile environment.
Manual Testing: Expertise in manual functional testing, including designing test cases, executing tests, and validating application features against requirements.
Functional Testing: Deep understanding of functional testing principles to ensure that software behaves as expected under various conditions.
Scrum: Active participation in Agile Scrum ceremonies, with a solid understanding of Agile methodologies and the ability to work effectively in iterative development cycles.
Defect Management: Skilled in identifying, documenting, prioritizing, and tracking defects to resolution, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Ultra Edit: Familiarity with Ultra Edit or similar advanced text editors to review and analyze code snippets, logs, or configuration files during testing.
PeopleSoft HCM: Experience with PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) systems, understanding core modules and workflows to better test related applications.
Benefits Module: Knowledge of Benefits modules within PeopleSoft or similar HR systems to validate features related to employee benefits administration.
Payroll Module: Understanding of Payroll modules and processes to effectively test payroll-related functionalities and integrations.
