Job Description

The NestSenior Full-Stack Engineer

$200,000 base + super + meaningful ESOP

Why this role exists

The Nest is building infrastructure for trust in private capital markets.

We sit in a narrow, sensitive band:

between fund managers and family offices

between discretion and discovery

between software systems and human judgement

Our platform is already live and generating revenue.

The first version was built quickly and deliberately to validate behaviour, trust dynamics, and signalling, not to win design awards or stack-purity points.

We are now entering the

second phase

:

refinement, simplification, and long-term architectural clarity.

This role exists because

how the system is shaped now will determine what it can safely become later

.

The role in plain terms

You are not being hired to “build features”.

You are being hired to

own a living system,

one that encodes discretion, access, and intent.

You will work directly with the Founder and future (Head of Product) to:

strengthen core workflows

simplify infrastructure without flattening nuance

ensure the platform scales without leaking trust

This is a senior, judgement-heavy role.

There is real autonomy, real responsibility, and no hiding behind process.

What you’ll actually do

You will:

Own end-to-end development of core platform workflows (identity, profiles, matching, signalling, reveal mechanics, payments, permissions)

Design systems that respect privacy, reputation, and asymmetric information

Refactor early architectural decisions with care, not ego

Shape how environments are separated (local / staging / production)

Build for low-noise, high-signal behaviour, not engagement theatre

Partner with product and design to sequence what

should

exist and what shouldn’t

Gradually help define engineering standards as the team grows

This role rewards people who understand that software is governance.

Platform \& technical environment

The Nest operates a modern, cloud-native, full-stack system that includes:

A JavaScript / TypeScript full-stack web framework

Managed authentication and identity services

Secure document storage and private file workflows

Transactional email and notification services

Centralised secrets and credential management

Cloud-hosted infrastructure with explicit environment separation

Access across the system involves multiple services and credentials, each with distinct trust boundaries.

We do not publish a copy-paste stack and we do not share credentials casually.

What matters is your ability to reason about:

system boundaries

access control

data sensitivity

failure modes

long-term maintainability

Where the platform is heading

The initial system was built to launch quickly and learn.

We are now in the process of:

simplifying the full-stack architecture

moving toward a cleaner relational data model

introducing more explicit permissioning and row-level access control

establishing a dedicated staging environment

reducing operational friction without reducing safety

This transition is already underway.

The incoming developer will have

material influence

over how it is executed.

If you enjoy:

unwinding complexity responsibly

replacing “it works” with “it holds”

designing systems that age well - you will enjoy this phase.

Access, credentials \& trust (how we operate)

The way we manage access mirrors the product itself.

Credentials are never sent via email

Access is provisioned, not shared

Permissions follow least-privilege principles

Secrets live in proper secret management tooling

Environments are separated and respected

Production access is earned through understanding, not urgency

Onboarding follows a clear access checklist:

version control

infrastructure

environment configuration

staging before production

What we’re looking for

10+ years building and shipping real software products (preference for fintech and data industries)

Strong full-stack capability with architectural judgement

Comfort operating close to commercial and trust logic

Ability to say

no

as well as

yes

Calm, self-directed, and allergic to performative chaos

High integrity, low ego, strong follow-through

You should enjoy:

ownership over visibility

responsibility over velocity

long-term thinking over short-term optics

What you get

$200,000 base + super

Meaningful ESOP participation aligned with long-term value creation

Direct influence on a platform with global ambition

A quiet, adult operating environment

A founder who values judgement, discretion, and clarity
