UGL’s Fuels and Energy East business is seeking a motivated Mechanical/Piping Engineer to provide safe, reliable and efficient technical expertise to our Maintenance and Projects Teams as well as coordinating engineering support for our client’s terminal and refining operations.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to brownfield and greenfield projects in the fuels and energy sector, working alongside industry leaders and technical experts.
About the role
As a Mechanical/Piping Engineer, you will:
Contribute to mechanical and piping engineering design activities across various contracts to ensure we have a viable solution for our clients
Provide technical expertise to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient project delivery.
Support tendering, design, procurement, installation, and commissioning phases.
Ensure compliance with Australian and international standards, client specifications, and UGL policies.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engineering designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications on time and within budget.
Apply deep knowledge of mechanical systems including pumps, valves, firewater systems, and piping components.
Conduct technical reviews, vendor data assessments, and support FAT and commissioning.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure safety is embedded in all aspects of project execution.
About You
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Chartered/RPEQ preferred or working towards).
5+ years of detailed engineering experience in oil \& gas, fuel terminals, or petrochemical industries.
Strong understanding of hazardous area design and instrumentation systems.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
Australian Citizenship (required for Commonwealth project work).
