$ 110,591 to $ 128345 per annum HEO8

Plus 17% employer superannuation

Salary packaging options are available

20 days family and domestic violence leave available per annum

10 days Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural and ceremonial leave per annum

5 weeks annual leave plus Christmas week shutdown, per annum

Armidale based role. Flexible or hybrid work arrangements available

About the role

The Software Engineer (AI Systems) is responsible for designing, building, and implementing complex software systems that support LabNext70's and the University's operational and strategic objectives. You will design and build software applications using AI/ML frameworks, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Leading technical architecture and design, you'll develop specifications for major projects and create enterprise-level APIs, microservices, and distributed system components. Your work will include implementing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and infrastructure as code. You'll solve complex technical problems, build proof-of-concepts to validate approaches, and research emerging technologies. Providing technical support to project teams and creating documentation will be key aspects of the role.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Expert-level programming and development skills across multiple languages (such as Python, Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go) with extensive experience building production-grade applications

Strong cloud and infrastructure expertise including cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipeline implementation

Proven system architecture capabilities to design and build complex, scalable systems including microservices, distributed architectures, APIs, and database solutions

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to tackle complex technical challenges, research emerging technologies, and develop innovative solutions

Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with stakeholders, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and deliver quality outcomes independently
