About the Role
Are you the architect capable of solving the "last mile" of latency? GHC Technologies (Gamers Hub Cloud) is seeking a visionary CTO to lead our engineering division in Sheffield.
We are not just building a website; we are building a distributed supercomputer. At GHC, our mission is to democratize high-end gaming by rendering AAA titles in the cloud and streaming them to any device with sub-millisecond latency. We need a technical leader who understands that "lag" is the enemy and that standard cloud architecture isn't enough. You will oversee the entire technical roadmap—from bare-metal GPU orchestration and edge-node deployment to the WebRTC streaming stack that delivers the pixels. You will balance the bleeding edge of technology with the commercial reality of unit economics. If you are ready to build the Netflix of Gaming from the ground up, this is your server room.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Strategy: Own the architectural vision. You will decide on the "Build vs. Buy" dilemmas for our virtualization stack, containerization (Kubernetes/Docker), and global content delivery network (CDN).
Infrastructure Scaling: Manage the deployment of high-performance GPU clusters. You will optimize our hardware usage to ensure maximum concurrency and minimum downtime.
Latency Elimination: Lead the R\&D into proprietary streaming protocols. You will obsess over encoding efficiency (H.264/H.265/AV1) and network jitter.
Team Leadership: Build and mentor a world-class team of Backend Engineers, DevOps specialists, and Full-Stack developers. You set the engineering culture: rigorous code reviews, automated testing, and rapid iteration.
Executive Presence: Sit on the Board. You will translate complex technical risks into business strategy for investors and partners.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: 10+ years in Software Engineering, with at least 4 years in a Head of Engineering, VP, or CTO role.
Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of Cloud Infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure or Bare Metal), Video Streaming (WebRTC/FFmpeg), or High-Performance Computing.
The Stack: You are polyglot but likely have strong roots in C++, Go, or Rust for the heavy lifting, and Python/Node.js for the orchestration layers.
Hardware Knowledge: Familiarity with NVIDIA/AMD server-grade GPUs and virtualization technologies (vGPU/SR-IOV).
Strategic Mindset: You understand the unit economics of cloud gaming. You know how to scale a platform without blowing the budget on bandwidth.
Why Work With Us?
Sheffield is transforming into a tech powerhouse, and GHC is at the forefront of the digital entertainment sector. We are a high-growth scale-up located in the heart of the city. We offer the excitement of a gaming company with the engineering rigor of a fintech. You will have a significant equity stake, a hybrid working model, and the autonomy to build a legacy.
