The Roadmap
The Manager, DevOps \& IT role combines leadership of DevOps practices with oversight of IT operations across the organization. This position is responsible for our deployment cycles, maintaining and securing cloud and on-prem infrastructure, and managing all IT support services for employees. The role ensures availability, reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness of systems and tools used by developers, staff, and customers. The role is focused on working to shorten and strengthen deployment cycles; maintaining and securing infrastructure as well as the applications running on it; building and maintaining tools/environments used by Software Developers and our customers; troubleshooting software systems for issues and urgently resolving all issues as they arise. You will train and manage all DevOps team members, including IT Support. This is a mid-manager position.
Duties DevOps \& Infrastructure
Provide technical leadership across planning, integration, testing, quality assurance, delivery, and sustainability of solutions.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and streamline incremental releases.Design and maintain secure, scalable staging and production environments with idempotent configuration management.
Manage infrastructure provisioning (databases, DNS, storage, clusters, VPCs) and ensure reliability through testing and monitoring.
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to quickly identify and resolve outages or performance issues.
Proactively address security vulnerabilities, support compliance initiatives (e.g., SOC II), and optimize infrastructure costs.
IT Management \& Operations
Oversee IT operations to ensure high-quality service for all employees.
Manage endpoint security, identity management, and device lifecycle (laptops, VPN, MDM, etc.)
Implement and maintain corporate IT policies, procedures, and governance frameworks (e.g., SOC II).
Oversee enterprise systems such as email, collaboration tools, cloud storage, and productivity platforms.
Develop and manage IT budgets, vendor relationships, and technology procurement.
Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management for enterprise software and hardware.
Ensure business continuity through backups, disaster recovery, and resilience strategies.
Leadership \& Strategy
Manage and mentor team members including DevOps Engineers, IT Administrators ensuring effective application development, deployment, and operations.
Work closely with senior technology leadership on long-term infrastructure and IT strategy.
Research and implement emerging tools, practices, and technologies in both DevOps and IT domains.
Lead security-related activities, ensuring alignment with corporate compliance and risk-management initiatives.
Participate in project-planning meetings, providing input on infrastructure and IT requirements.
Collaborate with the development team to troubleshoot issues, participate in planning meetings, and support strategic initiatives.
Create and maintain technical documentation (e.g., runbooks, recovery plans, network diagrams).
Other projects, duties and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
7+ years of combined work experience in Software Development, System Administration, DevOps, or IT
2+ years of people management experience in DevOps, IT, or related technical teams.
Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
Familiarity with corporate IT systems: Google Workspace, VPN, MDM, and endpoint security.
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology.
Experience managing a technical team (e.g. DevOps, IT, Software Developers or similar).
Strong understanding of operating system fundamental concepts, processes, threads, sockets, I/O, memory, filesystems.
Experience running, maintaining, and debugging issues in the Linux operating system terminal.
Proficient in networking and network infrastructure configuration and security practices.
Mastery of git.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible), containerization (Docker, Amazon ECS), and monitoring/logging tools (Elasticsearch, Grafana, Prometheus).
Knowledge and experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Salt, Chef, Puppet.
Experience implementing CI/CD tooling like Jenkins, Github Actions, AWS Code Deploy.
Amazon Web Services experience is a must.
Strong communication, collaboration, and multitasking abilities.
Performance Package
Salary: $100,000-$125,000/year
The salary range listed is for a Canadian employee. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
