About This Role
We’re looking for a Security Engineer to help strengthen the security of Pave Bank’s platform and products. You’ll work closely with engineering and product teams to identify vulnerabilities, guide secure design and coding practices, and build tools that improve security testing and enforcement.
This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, technically curious, and excited to solve complex security challenges in a high-growth fintech environment. You will have the opportunity to influence secure practices across the platform while continuing to grow your expertise in both application and infrastructure security.
Key Responsibilities
Review platform and product code to identify security issues and guide engineers toward secure solutions
Educate engineering and product teams on secure coding and design practices, and why they matter
Develop and contribute to internal tools, libraries, and automation to improve security testing and enforcement
Continuously test internal and external applications for vulnerabilities and perform threat modeling
Stay current on the latest security threats, attack techniques, and how they apply to our systems
Assist with third-party application security reviews, penetration tests, and audits
Collaborate cross-functionally to embed security into the development lifecycle and product roadmap
What We’re Looking For
3–6 years of experience in application or infrastructure security
Strong understanding of attacker tools and techniques, and how insecure development practices can be exploited
Hands-on programming experience in at least one modern language (Go, Python, or TypeScript preferred)
Experience reviewing or securing distributed systems, APIs, or backend services
Clear communication skills to explain security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-moving startup environment
General understanding of blockchain technologies and cryptocurrency systems, and their unique security implications
Nice to Have
Experience writing secure backend code in Go
Familiarity with front-end security concerns in TypeScript-based SPAs
Understanding of common authentication and authorization patterns (OAuth2, RBAC, Google Zanzibar)
Exposure to smart contract or Web3 security concepts
Prior experience in a high-growth fintech or startup environment
