Role description
The Cloud \& Database Support Engineer will provide hands-on support for AWS, Azure, on-premises infrastructure, and associated database environments. This role ensures operational excellence, incident resolution, proactive monitoring, and compliance client’s security and governance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud \& Infrastructure Support
Monitor AWS EC2, Azure VMs, and physical servers for health, performance, and security events.
Respond to s, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents within agreed SLAs.
Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support or engineering teams as needed.
Fulfil service requests and perform remote/onsite troubleshooting.
Coordinate and execute patching, backup, and disaster recovery activities.
Participate in CAB meetings and ensure all changes follow processes.
Manage IAM (user/role/policy creation, RBAC, access reviews).
Database Support
Provide operational support for cloud and on-premises databases (e.g., SQL Server, RDS, Oracle, MySQL).
Monitor database performance, availability, and backups.
Perform routine database maintenance: patching, upgrades, user management, and access provisioning.
Support database backup and restore operations, including monthly restore validation.
Troubleshoot database incidents and performance issues, escalating as needed.
Assist with database migrations, schema changes, and data integrity checks.
Ensure compliance with client’s data governance, security, and audit requirements.
Document database procedures, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
Reporting \& Documentation
Deliver monthly operational and compliance reports, including database health and backup status.
Maintain updated runbooks, process documentation, and knowledge base articles.
Continuous Improvement
Identify and suggest improvements to procedures, automation opportunities, and operational efficiencies.
Participate in quarterly service reviews and innovation workshops.
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
3+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and database support (AWS, Azure, SQL Server, RDS, Oracle, MySQL, etc.).
Hands-on experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Freshservice, etc.).
Strong technical understanding of Windows, Linux, Exchange/O365, Azure, Citrix, SAP, remote access management, and mobility support.
Experience with database monitoring, backup solutions, and security compliance frameworks.
Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and diagnostic skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with client stakeholders.
ITIL Foundation certification preferred.
Database certifications (e.g., Microsoft, AWS, Oracle) are a plus.
Willingness to work onsite at client’s office 3 days/week and participate in scheduled governance meetings.
