Role Purpose
Own the e-commerce product and technology roadmap, ensuring Varley’s website and supporting systems are stable, scalable, and commercially effective. This role sits at the intersection of development, UX and tech, translating business needs into clear technical requirements and delivering high-quality platform improvements.
The E-commerce Product Manager is accountable for platform performance, system integrations, experimentation infrastructure and technical delivery, ensuring the website evolves in a controlled, measurable, and customer-centric way.
This is a Hybrid role, working three days in our Soho Head office, London and two days from home.
Product \& Technology Ownership
Manage the end-to-end e-commerce product roadmap, prioritising development initiatives for improved customer experience.
Act as the primary product owner for the e-commerce platform, working closely with internal stakeholders and external development partners.
Translate commercial and UX requirements into clear technical briefs.
Balance short-term trading needs with long-term platform health and technical debt reduction.
Development \& Delivery Management
Lead end-to-end delivery of website and platform enhancements, from briefing developers, QA, release and post-launch review.
Manage development agencies and third-party vendors, ensuring high delivery standards, clear accountability, and value for money.
Manage sprint planning, backlog prioritisation and release coordination across teams.
Ensure changes follow agreed change control, QA and release governance to minimise risk and downtime.
Platform Performance \& Stability
Manage site performance and reliability, including page speed, uptime and responsiveness across devices and browsers.
Work with developers to diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Monitor and improve Core Web Vitals and other key technical KPIs.
Champion best practices in performance optimisation, accessibility, and front-end efficiency.
Systems \& Integrations
Support on integrations between core systems (CMS, PIM, search, personalisation, payments, analytics).
Act as the primary liaison between external agencies and internal teams, ensuring data flows and integrations operate reliably and working closely with technical teams to resolve issues quickly.
Manage technical relationships with key platform partners and ensure tools are fit for purpose.
AB Testing and UX
Manage the technical roadmap for experimentation, including A/B testing and personalisation capabilities.
Support on UX and CRO initiatives by ensuring experiments are technically sound, measurable and safely deployed.
Work with UX and trading teams to turn insights into onsite product improvements.
Ensure analytics (GA4, heatmaps, search analytics) are correctly implemented and trusted for decision-making.
Data, Analytics \& Reporting
Partner with analytics stakeholders to ensure accurate tracking, tagging and data capture across the site.
Use data from funnel analysis, behaviour tracking, search analytics and performance monitoring to inform roadmap priorities.
Provide clear updates on delivery progress, risks, and outcomes to senior stakeholders.
Support post-launch analysis to assess impact and feed learnings back into the roadmap.
Experience \& Capability
Proven experience as an E-commerce Product Manager, Digital Product Manager, or similar technical product role
Strong understanding of modern e-commerce platforms and integrations
Comfortable working with developers, APIs, and technical documentation (without needing to code)
Data-literate, commercially aware, and customer-centric
Confident managing agencies and complex delivery programmes
