Role Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical
Data Analyst / Merchandising Analyst
to support data-driven decision-making in merchandising and sales operations. In this role, you will gather, analyze, and interpret complex datasets to provide actionable insights that optimize product assortment, inventory management, pricing strategies, and promotional effectiveness.
You will collaborate closely with merchandising, sales, and marketing teams to identify trends, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and recommend strategies that enhance customer satisfaction and business profitability. This role is ideal for candidates with strong quantitative skills, proficiency in data tools, and an interest in retail or e-commerce analytics.
Key Responsibilities
Collect, clean, and analyze sales, inventory, and customer data to identify trends and opportunities.
Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor merchandising performance, including sales volume, margins, stock levels, and product turnover.
Conduct assortment analysis to support product selection, categorization, and lifecycle management.
Analyze pricing strategies, promotional effectiveness, and competitor pricing to inform merchandising decisions.
Collaborate with merchandising and buying teams to optimize inventory levels and reduce stockouts or overstocks.
Provide data-driven recommendations to improve product placement, store layouts, or online merchandising.
Support forecasting and demand planning processes through historical data analysis and market insights.
Use statistical methods and tools to perform sales performance analysis and predictive modeling.
Assist in ad hoc data projects and presentations to support strategic initiatives.
Ensure data integrity and accuracy by implementing quality control procedures.
Stay current with industry trends, market dynamics, and data analytics best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
1–3 years of experience in data analysis, merchandising analytics, retail operations, or a similar role.
Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or similar BI platforms.
Experience with statistical software (e.g., R, Python) is a plus.
Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills with an eye for detail.
Excellent communication skills to translate complex data into clear insights and recommendations.
Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.
Knowledge of retail or e-commerce environments and merchandising processes is an advantage.
