We are looking for a Senior Product Development Manager to join our strategy, Brand and Product Management team.
Purpose of the role:
The Senior Product Development Manager is a strategic role focused on the development and lifecycle management of financial products that drive customer engagement, retention, and revenue growth. This role places a strong emphasis on
Insurance, Loyalty Programs, and Non-Asset Based Income (NABI)—developing innovative, customer-centric solutions that complement core financing offerings and support the broader strategic goals of our captive finance company.
You will lead cross-functional initiatives to deliver embedded insurance products, loyalty platforms, and NABI solutions such as subscription services, digital payments, and ancillary financial products that enhance the customer journey across the vehicle lifecycle.
Additionally, the role is responsible for identifying, researching and creating feasibility studies into new products and initiatives for VWFS Australia. The key objective of the role is the development of products, including current and new product and projects that ensure that VWFS Australia maximises its penetration into the captive and non-captive / Used market across multiple lifecycles.
Key responsibilities of the role:
Insurance Product Strategy \& Development
Design and launch embedded and standalone insurance products (e.g., comprehensive coverage, extended warranties, GAP insurance) tailored to customer segments and vehicle lifecycle stages.
Collaborate with insurers, brokers, and legal teams to ensure compliance, scalability, and differentiation.
Integrate insurance offerings into digital channels and dealer platforms to improve accessibility and conversion.
Loyalty Program Design \& Optimisation
Develop and evolve loyalty programs that reward customer behaviour across ownership, servicing, and repurchase cycles.
Use customer insights and behavioural analytics to personalise rewards and drive retention.
Partner with marketing, digital, and dealer teams to embed loyalty features into customer touchpoints and digital experiences.
Non-Asset Based Income (NABI) Initiatives
Lead the development of NABI products such as subscription models, digital payment solutions, and ancillary services (e.g., maintenance plans, roadside assistance).
Identify and evaluate new revenue streams that do not rely on asset financing, enhancing profitability and customer lifetime value.
Explore partnerships with fintechs, Insurtech, and mobility platforms to co-create future-ready financial solutions.
Product Strategy \& Lifecycle Management
Develop and execute product roadmaps for financial services including loans, leases, fleet financing, and ancillary offerings.
Align product strategy with OEM, dealer, and customer lifecycle goals.
Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify innovation opportunities and white space.
Cross-Functional Leadership \& Governance
Collaborate with legal, compliance, credit, risk, operations, and IT to ensure product feasibility and regulatory alignment.
Present business cases, product updates, and performance insights to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Drive alignment across internal and external partners to ensure timely and successful product delivery.
Key requirements for the role:
Motor Finance experience, ideally with a captive organisation. Experience in business development, Sales, marketing and product development related fields is highly desirable.
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Marketing or related field desirable.
Strong strategic, commercial and financial acumen supported by sound commercial judgment with well-developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills.
Proven experience in negotiating and influencing decision makers at a senior management level; including customers, dealers and group brands.
Experience in negotiating supplier arrangements \& relationships.
A developed understanding of statistical and demographic analytics with an ability to produce relevant supporting data
Ability and experience in managing multiple projects and business initiatives simultaneously.
Effective listening abilities and be able to make strong judgement calls.
Project Management \& Process Improvement Skills desirable.
