Wedo is collaborating with a fast-growing, private-equity-backed FinTech company that has expanded rapidly in recent years. The company recently acquired a multi-billion-pound credit card portfolio and, under the strategic leadership of a new CEO, is set for substantial growth in 2025. Their vision is to offer innovative consumer finance solutions in partnership with leading consumer brands. With around 200 employees, including 70 in tech, the product team is expanding from 10 to 13 members, and they are now looking for a Product Manager focused on customer engagement.
About the Role
Build and evolve high-performance, scalable
RESTful APIs
and backend services in
Java
(Spring, JPA, Kafka, JUnit).
Own the full lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement of
microservices
.
Collaborate in agile squads with product owners and engineers to refine, estimate, and prioritise work (Jira).
Write
clean, maintainable, testable
code; contribute to code reviews, pair programming, and shared standards.
Design and maintain
data models
in relational databases (SQL), ensuring performance and reliability.
Apply solid engineering practices:
SOLID principles, clean code, design patterns
, and effective refactoring.
Contribute to platform
observability
(logging, metrics, tracing) and
security
(data protection, access control).
Deploy and operate services in a modern cloud environment (
AWS
context), using CI/CD (Git, Jenkins) and automation.
About You
Several years of hands-on backend development with
Java
and
Spring
, plus experience with
JPA/Hibernate
,
Kafka
, and
JUnit
.
Strong understanding of
microservices architecture
, API design, and distributed systems trade-offs.
Confident with
relational databases
and SQL performance considerations.
Fluent in engineering fundamentals:
SOLID
, clean code, design patterns, testing strategies (unit/integration), and debugging complex issues.
Practical exposure to cloud (any major provider; AWS a plus) and containerised deployments.
Mindset for
observability
(structured logging, correlation IDs, metrics, tracing) and
security
best practices (least privilege, encryption, secrets management).
Comfortable in
agile
environments (scrum/kanban), with pair programming and thorough code reviews.
Excellent communicator who takes ownership, keeps things simple, and collaborates effectively.
Based in the
UK or Germany
with the legal right to work in your location.
