Mō te tūranga \| About the Role
The Delivery Lead – TO role is part of the Transformation Office (TO)’s Enterprise Delivery organisation which includes Programme Managers, Delivery Leads, and Programme Coordinators who provide program, project management, and coordination expertise across Westpac NZ supporting all Enterprise Change and Critical Transformation Programmes.
The team supports programs and initiatives governed traditionally and delivered in a hybrid of Agile and traditional styles, of varying size, complexity, and duration. This enables end-to-end outcomes to be delivered that span WNZL the Agile tribe/squad delivery ecosystem, as well as the more traditionally organised functions.
A Digital Delivery Lead in the TO is an accomplished delivery practitioner who brings deep Digital project management experience working in scaled agile Agile organisations and traditional delivery, who also brings relevant industry, business, and/or IT domain experience. A human-centered design thinking approach to problem solving/delivery is essential to successfully lead the delivery of key enterprise priorities and outcomes for customers, staff, the business, and communities.
The Digital Delivery Lead in the TO is a key role in providing leadership of one or more approved Enterprise Change initiatives or workstreams within one of our Critical Transformation Programmes. With alignment to a business / IT domain, you will grow both through increasing scale and complexity of delivery leadership opportunities and through broadened domain knowledge to add increased value to the business.
Ko tō mahi \| What you’ll do* Managing enduring enterprise-wide digital initiatives within the agreed scope, time, cost, and quality from initial identification, refinement of the requirements, scope, and solution design, to delivery of change and embedding in the business and IT ensuring alignment with wider delivery plans and priorities
Ensuring initiatives adhere to all internal policies and standards, reporting meets Transformation Office requirements, and maintaining compliant initiative governance and reporting management.
Working with internal business and project stakeholders, vendors, and third parties to ensure the successful delivery of projects and ensure open and frequent lines of visibility to stakeholders.
Ensuring initiatives are resourced correctly, sponsors are engaged and aware of progress and all risks to delivery are identified and managed.
Nā tāu rourou \| What will you bring?* Strong understanding of the project management lifecycle and its practical application.
Demonstrated success in leading complex business and technical change projects in corporate environments.
Experience working within large, interdependent programmes and understanding delivery at scale.
Over 7 years of post-qualification experience in IT, financial services, or related fields managing complex projects (preferred).
Solid understanding of Agile methodology, including leading quarterly delivery planning, breaking down scope into epics and user stories, and effective prioritisation.
Experience delivering in hybrid environments combining traditional governance with Agile squads or tribes.
Knowledge of project management methodologies including Agile and Lean.
Hands-on experience delivering projects in Agile environments.
Familiarity with Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and SAFe frameworks.
Current certifications in project management and Agile (preferred).
Proven ability to identify complex risks, lead project reviews, and implement mitigation and contingency plans.
Experience managing vendors and professional service contracts.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Proven ability to manage diverse resources in a matrix organisation.
Proficiency in JIRA and Confluence.
Understanding of financial services and compliance obligations of registered banks in New Zealand.
Relevant domain knowledge in areas such as finance and treasury, HR, risk and compliance, product, customer, digital, technology, consumer banking and wealth, or institutional and business banking (preferred).
