As we scale and move towards a microservices architecture, weâre looking for a Backend Engineer who thrives in collaborative, hands-on environments.
Youâll help shape the backend systems and infrastructure that power Wikifarmer, from clean Laravel code to AWS deployments, while experimenting with AI tools that boost productivity. If you like ownership, practical problem-solving, and building systems that scale, this role is for you.
What youâll do
Design, build, and maintain backend services with PHP and Laravel, writing clean, testable, and scalable code
Contribute to our platformâs evolution as we break down the monolith and move toward microservices
Own the DevOps lifecycle - ship confidently with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and AWS
Monitor, debug, and optimize using logs and metrics to ensure reliability
Work closely with frontend developers, PMs, and stakeholders to deliver features that matter
Document your work and share knowledge to keep everyone aligned
Explore and use AI tools (LLMs, coding assistants, workflow automations) to speed up development and spark new ideas
Communicate openly and adapt quickly in an agile environment that values iteration and transparency
What youâll bring
Proven experience building and maintaining Laravel (PHP) applications in production
Comfort with DevOps tools - Docker, CI/CD pipelines, AWS â and ownership of code in production
Strong knowledge of relational databases (MariaDB/MySQL) and efficient SQL practices
A sense of ownership: you donât just ship code, you see it through to deployment and monitoring
A startup-ready mindset: proactive, adaptable, comfortable shifting gears when things change
Clear communication skills to keep teams in sync in async/remote-first setups
A collaborative spirit - you enjoy solving problems together with designers, engineers, and product teams
Curiosity for AI and how it can enhance development and productivity
Bonus points if you have:
Experience with Python, microservices, or observability tools
Contributions to open source projects that show initiative
A track record of building AI-backed product features
