Job Description

Ready to shape the marketing strategies of the largest A-brands in the Netherlands using advanced data models? At WPP Media, the largest media organization in the country, we are looking for a Data Scientist with a deep passion for statistical modeling and the drive to bring these models to life at scale in our production environment. If you want to strengthen our data products and directly contribute to the success of our clients, this is the role for you.

What will you do as a Data Scientist?

As a Data Scientist at WPP Media, you ensure that the media buying process is supported by the right insights and optimizations. This includes building scalable models that allow us to estimate ROI and the effects of all marketing channels (Marketing Mix Modeling – MMM). You ensure that local innovations align well with international initiatives and that insights do not contradict each other. You focus on methodological depth and the correct application of data science techniques. You translate complex business questions into robust statistical models and work closely with engineers to bring these models into production in a scalable and maintainable way.

Your key responsibilities:

Modeling \& Programming

You develop, validate, and maintain the statistical and machine learning models in Python that form the core of our products. This includes the methodological advancement of Marketing Mix Models (MMM), predictive models (time series), and (customer) clustering algorithms.

Models in Production

You ensure that your models are not only theoretically sound, but also function as efficient, scalable services (via APIs) in our production environment (MLOps).

Data Engineering

You work with various data sources and are skilled in extracting and combining data using SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. Snowflake).

Collaboration \& Innovation

You work in a multidisciplinary team with Engineers, Product Owners, and fellow Data Scientists to maintain and further develop existing products.

Your profile:

You have a Master's level of thinking and working, with a completed degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Econometrics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science.

You have at least 3 years of work experience in a similar role, with hands-on experience in data science projects.

Proven expertise in statistical data science, including time series modeling, regression analysis, and linear programming.

Experience with Bayesian statistics is a plus.

You are an expert in Python (or another programming language) and have experience writing production-ready code.

You have extensive experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.

You have experience deploying data science models into production and are familiar with MLOps environments (experience with Kubeflow is a plus).

You use Git for version control in a production environment.

Experience with cloud platforms and building APIs is a plus.

Analytical \& communicative: You can translate business problems into technical solutions and clearly explain the workings and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You ensure proactive communication so that all stakeholders are involved at the right time and developed models do not remain unused.

What do we offer?

Flexibility: The option to work from home, flexible working hours, and even the possibility to work abroad (within the EU) for a period of time.

Growth opportunities: Plenty of room for development in an innovative and dynamic team, with a focus on AI transformation and working with a portfolio of A-brands.

Access to M Academy: Extensive training and workshops in both hard and soft skills, including dedicated AI training.

Mental Wellbeing: Access to the Headspace app.

Travel allowance: Full reimbursement of travel expenses.

Holidays: 8% holiday allowance and 26 vacation days per year (plus the option to purchase 9 extra days!).

Hybrid Working allowance: €30 net per month for full-time employment.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD): A monthly phone allowance of €57.50 net.

Lunch facilities: Affordable lunch options in the cafeteria and a barista for freshly made coffee.

Health insurance: Benefit from our collective health insurance plan.
