We are looking for a Mid Python Software Engineer to join our Public Platform team, which is
responsible for powering YouGov’s high traffic websites such as yougov.com and yougov.co.uk etc.
These sites host core features like Ratings, Entities, Trackers, and other data-driven products used by millions of users worldwide.
You will collaborate with product and design teams to build high-value features, drive the evolution of our architecture and system, and ensure the availability, scalability, and efficiency of our services.
Key Responsibilities
Work on impactful projects with high volumes of production traffic.
Produce simple, maintainable code while always looking to improve it.
Define testing strategies and write automated tests.
Own your code all the way to production with a self-service continuous delivery pipeline and
production infrastructure.
Run what you build using containers orchestration and monitoring technologies.
Perform code-reviews promptly, regularly and constructively.
Skills \& Experience
You have 3-5 years of experience working with the majority of our tech-stack.
Advanced knowledge of Python and some of the main web frameworks (FastAPI, Flask,
Django).
Good understanding of modern testing principles.
Significant experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
Very good verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with a highly distributed microservices architecture.
Experience with MongoDB and/or PostgreSQL.
Good knowledge of Docker.
Collaborative mindset and curiosity for building data-driven systems at scale
Strong focus on code quality, operational excellence, and delivering great customer
experience.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to end
user.
Passion for experimenting with new AI technologies to find smarter ways of building.
Experience connecting or building AI agents to automate and extend what apps can do.
Experience participating in mitigating technical debt.
Experience with Kubernetes and AWS technologies.
Ability to think abstractly and deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems.
1+ years working remotely in a global environment.
