About The Role
The Lead Engineer - Data at ZS is a senior technical role responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing scalable data architectures that enable efficient data utilization and support data-driven decision-making processes. This position combines deep technical expertise with leadership capabilities to guide the data engineering team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, reliable data systems.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field
5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of designing and implementing scalable data systems
Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other relevant programming languages
Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
Expertise in ETL process design, data modeling, and database management
Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and data integration tools
Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
Leadership experience in managing small teams of Data Engineers
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams
Ability to travel as required for client engagements or internal projects
Fluency in English and a client-first mentality
Responsibilities
Oversee the design and implementation of robust, scalable, and high-performance data architectures aligned with business objectives
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions
Develop and manage seamless data movement processes between data warehouses, data lakes, and internal systems
Design and optimize ETL pipelines to ensure high-quality, accessible data for various stakeholders
Build data ingestion frameworks, data quality assurance processes, and integrated audit systems
Implement and maintain data governance practices to ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance
Analyze data to derive actionable insights and support strategic decision-making
Communicate findings and technical solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and knowledge sharing within the data engineering team
